It is absolutely amazing to me how quickly a baby grows and changes. Sometimes it is hard for me as a mother to even notice because I am with them all day, every day. I love looking through the pictures of my babies as they grow up. Please allow me to share with you this little journey through Henry's first life.

Dear Henry,
You have brought me such joy from the very beginning of your life. From the first moment I felt you move within me to the first moment I saw you and to this day, my love for you grows and grows. Your birth was easy and perfect.

Dear Henry,
You have brought me such joy from the very beginning of your life. From the first moment I felt you move within me to the first moment I saw you and to this day, my love for you grows and grows. Your birth was easy and perfect.
I cut your cord and then helped clean you up while you laid on my belly. You were amazing. So beautiful. You brought an incredible spirit with you, one I hope to continue to nourish and let grow as your Heavenly Father would have it be.

Your first smiles made every challenge worth it. I knew you were smiling at me because you love me.

I love how much you love your big brother.
William adores you (even if he has a funny way of showing it sometimes).
You brought many new challenges and experiences into my life. Your spit up was something I really struggled with. I couldn't believe how much one little being could shoot from their mouth. I didn't like being covered in it. But it was worth it. I'd do it all over again just for you! Your sweet smiles and your soft giggles and coos made it worth it.

When you were born with red hair, I hoped it would stay. Your hair fell out, but it grew back just as red as the day you were born. It perfectly suits you!

You've always had a great appetite. You've been a great eater since the very first time I held you in my arms and fed you. I couldn't believe how quickly you packed on your chub, but I absolutely adored each and every wrinkle and crease on your chubby body.

I love being with you. I loved taking you to BYU football and basketball games. I know some may not understand, but BYU is very dear to me, and I hope to pass that love of the university and its sports on to you.

I love how in tune you are. You're very aware of what is going on around you. I know that you already have a testimony. That is evident to me every morning and every time you wake up since the first thing you do is point to your picture of Jesus and say His name. Jesus loves you. Please always remember that and always cling to Him and His church.

You definitely have a mischievous side. Those little wheels are often turning in your head trying to figure out what you can get into next. I love that though. You always keep me on my toes. And it reminds me of myself. I love seeing a bit of me in you.

We sometimes call you Henry Bear or little bear. It started with this hat that I made you for Christmas. We also call you by the Japanese term for little bear. I think it suits you so well.

We also lovingly call you Henry boy. I love hearing William call you his little Henry boy. I cherish the love you two have for each other.

The biggest challenge I've faced with you was when you refused to breastfeed at 10 months. I felt rejected at times. But as I prayed about it and as I did all I could to continue to give you that "liquid gold" (I finally came to really understand that term), I knew you weren't rejecting me. You were teaching me. I have a better understanding now for what other mothers may go through. Thank you for teaching me this very valuable lesson. This has been one of the best lessons I've learned as a mother. Thank you for helping me become a better person.
