Four Months Old

As promised, here is an update on William. William is such a happy baby! He is pretty mellow, too. If you notice, in most of his pictures he has the same expression; it's somewhat of a look of surprise. He does smile - lots, actually. It's just that as soon as the camera comes out, he looks at it with a look of curiosity (and maybe even defiance - just try to get a picture of me smiling, I dare you!) and his smile disappears. We love his cute laugh. He is such a joy in our lives.
Here are his stats as of December 19th.
Weight - 15 lbs 7 oz (70th percentile)
Length - 25 3/4 inches (70th percentile)
Head circumference - 43 cm (70th percentile)
In case you couldn't tell, he's growing quite well! He's well on his way to becoming like this guy.

He holds his head up so well! This is him in his high chair. He hasn't started solids yet, but I think we'll start them within the next few weeks.

He LOVES his hands! He sucks on them all the time! He loves looking at them too.

Haha! We actually caught a smile on camera! This was probably a laugh too!

On a recent trip to Layton, I hung this toy on the bar of William's car seat. He grabbed onto it and then fell asleep. When David put the bar back once we got into the car, he still held onto it. I'm not sure how long he held onto it for, but we thought it was pretty funny.

For a long time, William could have cared less about the toys hanging above his head. Then, one day he actually started to play with them. It's amazing how quickly some things change - how one day they don't notice something, and then it's like BAM! they can't leave it alone! Lovely description - right!

***On a side note, I have read in a few blogs the comment that blogs often turn into brags about kids. If you feel that way, then I'm sorry. I don't, though. I think that people blog so much about their kids because they love them and because they are excited and proud of them. Bragging to me is "my kid is better than your kid", but I don't feel that way at all. I just think that my son is special and wonderful - the same way that you hopefully feel about your child(ren). What else would I blog about instead of my family? Politics - no thanks. The weather - mmm, no. I'm going to blog about what I love, and the thing I love the most is my family.

Infant in Arms

On the 3rd of December, William and I flew out to Nebraska to surprise my sister, Becky. My dad also flew out. Originally my dad and I were on different flights, but my dad talked to one of the agents and he was able to change my flight so William and I could fly with my dad. It was SO nice flying with my dad. He was a huge help with William. William was quite the trooper. I didn't have time to feed him before we left my parents' house at 6:30 am. Then at the airport there wasn't any time because as soon as my flight was changed we had to RUN to our gate. It didn't help either that I was "selected" to go through the special security line and then they had to search my carry on. Anyway, William finally got to eat once we boarded the plane. He was so patient. He did so well on all of his flights - to and from Nebraska. He slept on each flight! When we flew back to Utah we weren't able to get on the same flights as my dad. But I still had lots of help from others at the airport. Once when I was quite obviously struggling to get something, this sweet little old lady helped me out. I am so grateful for her help! Here are pictures of William's first airplane ride.

Asleep in my dad's lap.

I look funny, but here we are together. On this flight from Minneapolis to Omaha we sat right behind first class. It was SO nice! I could stretch my legs out and still not touch the seat in front of me!
Anthony absolutely LOVED William. He would play with him and poke him all day long if he could. William loved Anthony, too (most of the time!).

Makayla

I am currently in Nebraska visiting my sister, Becky, and her family. I flew out yesterday with William and my dad. Becky knew my dad was coming, but she didn't know that William and I were also coming. (Becky's husband and mother-in-law knew that I was coming and helped keep it a surprise.) We surprised her yesterday evening. Becky had her baby, Makayla, early this morning after laboring all day yesterday and all night. She finally had to have a C-section because Makayla was face up instead of face down. My dad and I took William and Becky's two kids to visit them today. Makayla is really adorable! She is 7 lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long. I think she was born at 2:51 am CST.

The new happy family! Matt, Becky, Josie, Anthony, and Makayla.

Becky and her children.

Sweet little Makayla.

Update

William is now sleeping through the night!!! He would only eat for a 5 - 10 minutes during the night. Then during his morning feeding he would only eat for 5 - 10 minutes again. So I decided to cut out his night time feeding. I started Wednesday night. He woke up a few times, and I went in and just talked to him until he calmed down. Thursday night he woke up once and only cried for a few minutes and then stopped. Friday night he didn't wake up at all!!! So now he sleeps from about 9 pm until about 7 or 8 am. It's great! He is eating better in the morning, too. It took me a few nights to adjust to not waking up, but I'm happy to say that I, too, am now sleeping through the night! YAY!!!!

3 months old!!!!

Time flies so quickly! My little baby isn't quite so little anymore. I weighed him on Saturday and he weighs 14 pounds!!! It's amazing that he weighs that much already since he only weighed 5 lb 12 oz when he was born. Those cute clothes I couldn't wait to put him in are getting too small, and now we are washing the 3-6 month clothes that are also really cute for him to wear. I've learned, though, that the size labeled on the clothing doesn't really matter because William can still fit into the newborn onesie he wore home. Yet he doesn't fit into his 0-3 month gerber onesies anymore. It doesn't make sense, but that's ok! Last night he slept from about 9 pm until 5:30! I tried just changing his diaper when he woke up, but he got really mad and let out the saddest/maddest cry I've heard! So I fed him, and then he was happy and went back to sleep until 8:15.
I enjoy all the precious moments we get to spend together. I love his cute giggle! He works so hard to get it out - soon he'll be laughing at everything!
Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.
I love how much William loves bath time! He kicks and splashes and has lots of fun!

He now loves tummy time and will roll over to his back every now and then.

He has gotten really good at holding his head up.
He loves sucking on his hands when he can get them into his mouth.

David and I have started putting him in the Johnny Jumper. He seems to like it; he doesn't quite get what to do though. He'll figure it out soon.

The outfit he's wearing is one of my favorites! And it is now too small for him. So sad.

I love his cute expressions!
I have tried so many times to take a good picture of him smiling, yet this is how most pictures turn out. Hopefully soon I will get his cute smile captured on camera.
He LOVES blowing bubbles! It is so stinkin' cute!

These next two pictures amaze me! This is also the onesie I was talking about earlier.

Photo Tag

Amy Jones tagged me. I'm supposed to post the 4th picture in the 4th folder in my pictures folder and then tell about the picture. So here it is...

This was taken December of 2006. It was our first Christmas together as a married couple. We had just finished decorating the Christmas tree (aka the charlie brown tree), that's why we are wearing our pajamas.
On the Christmas note, I am SO excited for Christmas this year, I guess because I have a baby to buy for. I can't wait to decorate our Christmas tree!
I tag Becky.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween this year was great! I found a great costume idea in the Parents magazine. In order to pull it off I needed to find an orange sleep sack for William. But I couldn't find one ANYWHERE! So, I decided to make one and it actually turned out! I also made the aprons for mine and David's costumes. We first debuted our costumes at our ward's trunk-or-treat on the 29th. They were a huge hit! All of the bishopric complimented our costumes. We had numerous kids and adults coming up to us to tell us they loved the costumes. We even had lots of random people take our pictures. On Sunday we met with the 1st and 2nd counselors of our bishopric to be set apart as primary teachers. Both counselors again complimented our costumes. The 1st counselor said that "the highlight of Wednesday night" was our costumes and that they were "unique, refreshing, and cute!" The 2nd counselor said that he really liked them and that our costumes were all that his kids could talk about when they got home from the trunk-or-treat. So without further ado - here are our lovely costumes!

As our cute niece Marcella would say, David and I are "hot dog sellers", which would make William a Hot Dog - bun and all!

This is the only good picture of William with his hat on.

Doesn't he look so tasty!

He didn't really like wearing the hat. He hated when I tried putting it on. I guess it was a little too small!
This is how he feels about being sold for only 50 cents. We went to Sharon Elementary (the school I taught at last year) Halloween morning for the Halloween parade. When we were leaving, we passed by some 2nd graders. One boy said to me with a look of disgust on his face, "You're selling your baby for 50 cents!" We laughed and told him it was a joke. I don't think he got it though.

We spent Halloween night at my parents' house. These are random pictures that I thought were cute. It was definitely a Halloween worth remembering! Happy (belated) Halloween!

L'il Cougar

William and I went to our first BYU football game together this weekend. William slept through most of the game. I was so excited to go - it was my first game of the season. I'm really glad that BYU won! Go Cougars!
William with my dad.

He got his BYU shirt from his Uncle Jon. Thanks again, Jon!

He's dreaming of the day when he gets to go to school at BYU.

How cute - we kinda match!

David didn't get to go to the game. He had to work.

Yikes - like Father like daughter. Check out my dad's grin above. No wonder why I'm weird! Just kidding, Dad! Thanks, Dad, for taking us to the game!

Playtime!

On Thursdays I babysit my nieces - Marcella and Claire. Here is a picture of William with his cousins! Marcella is 3 and Claire is 11 weeks (she is 8 days older than William).

Smile! I love this picture - even if there is a booger in his nose.

Mommy and William!
