Seuss Day 2013

On Saturday March 2nd we celebrated Dr. Seuss Day.

We had green eggs and ham, biscuits, cat in the hat fruit kabobs, and moose juice for breakfast.

Lots of excitement at the table!

Charlie was a little nervous about the green eggs and ham.
But he enjoyed it all!
We of course read Green Eggs and Ham around breakfast time.

After breakfast we loaded up in the van and headed out to a surprise destination.
On the way we read If I Ran the Zoo.

Our surprise trip was to the zoo!

It was a lovely day for the zoo!

The otters were so fun to watch! We also saw the seals, sea lion, and polar bear.

Charlie was enthralled!

The boys loved watching Rizzo (the polar bear).

We also loved watching this grizzly bear play in the water.

William got to feel a real moose antler.
This was a good tie in to Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose which we had read at home earlier in the week.

We ate a picnic lunch and had these delicious beauties for a treat.

Carousel!

Zuri (the baby elephant) was pretty funny to watch in that tube. She turned it on its side while she had her hind legs in it. She struggled for a minute to get back up on her feet, but you could tell she was really enjoying it!

I made 2 new hats this year so now each of the boys can have one. William and Henry wore theirs the majority of the time we were at the zoo.

We attempted taking pictures of the boys with their Dr. Seuss hats on.
Charlie didn't want to keep his hat on!

William tried holding it on Charlie's head.
I love Henry's face in this picture!

This was the best one we got of all three of them wearing their hats.

Outtakes!

Cute brothers!

Me and my boys!

On the way home from the zoo we read Horton Hears a Who.

When we got home Grandma D brought a surprise over for the boys.
Their very own Horton!

We then read Bartholomew and the Oobleck.
The boys enjoyed that story!

We then made our own oobleck!
William wouldn't touch it.

But Henry loved it!

I loved playing with it too.

OOOOoooobleck!!!

We had a great Dr. Seuss Day!
We sure love this fun family tradition!
