Henry's Potty Party

Henry has been showing interest in using the potty for a while. One weekend he pooped on the potty 4 times! We decided to buckle down and start potty training him.

Tuesday November 27th was Henry's Potty Party Day.


That morning he opened a gift.
It was a special friend who had come to help him learn how to use the potty!

Tommy also helped William get potty trained in March of 2011.

Henry and I spent the morning teaching Tommy how to use the potty.

Tommy did a pretty good job. He had a couple accidents but he also had a lot of successes.

We read books and watched some shows together.

 Henry loved taking Tommy to the potty.
He really enjoyed spending the morning with him.

After lunch Tommy gave Henry a present.

New underwear!
Henry selected a pair and we put them on Henry.

That afternoon we had several successes and a few accidents.
It went pretty well until Henry had a major meltdown.
The poor boy felt so overwhelmed I think.
But he continued the potty training and continued to have success.

That night Dann, Terry, Nathan, and Calvin came over for a Pizza Party for Henry.
After dinner Henry received his 1st potty training present.

Henry was SUPER excited!
He LOVES elephants - especially baby elephants.

Grandma and Grandpa also gave him a little gift - animal crackers.

After the Potty Party Day, Henry honestly struggled with going potty. He had several accidents of both varieties. Finally he got #1 taken care of, but he still struggled with #2. He would have several #2 accidents a  day! SOOOOO frustrating! I felt like giving up on multiple occasions, but thanks to the encouragement of my mom, Becky, Mindy (my best friend), and Terry we stuck with it. And I'm SOOO glad we did.
It has now been about a week and a half since he's had an accident. He's doing so well.

The amazing thing through all of this - he has woken up dry everything single morning since his potty party day!!!! He still wears a diaper to bed, but he's been dry every morning (okay, actually there was 1 morning that he was wet). It's amazing!

Henry finished filling his sticker chart on December 10th and finally earned the mommy elephant!

Way to go, Henry!!!
