Charlie's Hospital Stay

After Charlie was born we had a few hours together before he was taken to the nursery. I was able to nurse him for a while during this time. When he went to the nursery they tested his blood sugar levels because he was so tiny. Unfortunately, despite nursing for a long period of time, his levels were extremely low. They fed him some formula and also put an IV in his arm. Thankfully his levels came up really quickly so he didn't have to go into the NICU or stay on the IV.

After his IV he had his first bath! Then he and David returned to our room.

My grandparents were Charlie's first visitors.  My grandma snuggled Charlie for a while before reluctantly passing him over to my grandpa.

While my grandparents were visiting, my dad showed up with William and Henry.

Family of FIVE!!!!

David's parents arrived with my mom. They all took a turn holding Charlie. Then my parents left together and David's parents took my boys back to our home.

Charlie did really well that first night. His blood sugar levels dropped at first, but then held pretty steady right at the level they wanted him to be at. He had his car seat test during the night (testing to make sure he was getting enough oxygen while sitting in the car seat) and passed.

We spent most of Monday morning snuggling our cute baby boy. We also got the good news that his blood sugars had stayed up consistently and he was good to go home! 

We also had a few visitors on Monday the 19th. My uncle Jim who works in the ER at the hospital came and visited for a while. Dann and Terry also came with William and Henry. The boys ate lunch with me.
